Full Privacy Policy

This policy outlines the way the New Zealand Badgers Club (the “Club”) collects, uses, and maintains information collected from users of the Club’s websites and the Club’s commitment to protecting the privacy of its members.

The information we collect

Personal information is information about identifiable, living people. As part of our registration and membership process the Club will collect personal information about you including but not limited to your name, address and contact details.

We may collect non-personal identification information about users whenever they interact with our site. Non-personal identification information may include the browser name, the type of computer and technical information about users means of connection to our site, such as the operating system and the Internet service providers utilised and other similar information.

How we collect your information

No registration is required to read the public parts of the Club websites. Only registered users and subscription paying full members may access the private sections of the Club websites.  

We usually collect information directly from you at the time of joining. This will happen either electronically via email or website form, over the phone, on paper or in person.

Use and disclosure of personal information

The Club only collects and retains personal information that is reasonably necessary in order to successfully run the organisation. The Club uses this information only for the intended purpose(s), which will be either stated or can be reasonably inferred at the time of collection (including for the purpose of providing services and benefits to members).

When you first register as a website user, you will be given the opportunity to join as a full member. As a registered user, you can do this at any point by completing the membership request form available on the site.

If you are a full member, the Club will use the information you supplied to send you copies of the Club magazine, membership renewal reminders, and news and information about the operation of the Club, such as Club meetings or other events. Unless you request otherwise, your name, address, phone number, email address, NZ Scout Zone or Country, and Scouting/Guiding position will be included in the Club’s membership directory which is made available to other full members of the Club.

Any information that the Club collects will not be kept for longer than is reasonable for the purpose(s) for which it was collected. The Club may delete all information held about you after three years of your full membership expiring, or earlier if you request.

Who can access personal information

Personal information collected by the Club will not be shared, distributed or sold to third parties.

The information you supply will be used by the Club’s Executive Team members in carrying out their administrative and Club management functions and will be available to them as necessary for them to carry out their functions. This includes but is not limited to the distribution of the Club magazine, information of interest to Club members, contacting new or returning members to welcome them, and membership renewal reminders. All the Club’s Executive Team members agree to respect and adhere to confidentiality of all personal information held by the Club.

Other full members of the Club will be able to view your name, address, phone number, email address, NZ Scout Zone or Country, and Scouting/Guiding position, which is included in the Club’s membership directory, unless you have requested otherwise. You may decline to have your details made available to other Club members at the time you join as a full member or at any time subsequently by editing your profile online using the website form, by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. Registered users who are not full Club members will be able to view and edit their own information but will not have access to anyone else’s information. Full members, other than authorised members of the Club’s Executive Team, will not be able to view information about those who are only registered users.

The Club will ensure that reasonable safeguards are in place to prevent loss, misuse or disclosure of personal information.

Accessing and correcting information

You have the right to access any personal information that we hold about you, and to change or correct information as needed.
